Housing/Car/School
Anyone planning to rent their house/apartment near University of Virgin Island (UVI) or near Fortuna? Please let me know the rent. If you do not have anything to rent at this point, please let me know what can I expect within $1500 for housing/apartment?
Also, anyone has moving experience with their car will greatly help me to decide whether I should bring my 4WD Mercedez Benz or not. The car is of family value. That's why I need your good opinion. Is there a mechanic/shop for Mercedez at St. Thomas? I am also worried what might be the law and order condition at STT and whether street parking may be safe.
Elementary School: I would appreciate some name of good elementary school UVI, ST. Thomas? Why do you think that the school is good etc. (in your opinion).
You can find information about moving a car, crime and public and private schools here: https://www.vimovingcenter.com/ The "What To Expect "stories were written by folks who moved here and provide the best idea of what moving and living here is like. You can also search this site and read recent discussions about moving a car, crime and schools. Most folks who relocate here with children send them to a private school. The relative safety of on street parking depends on the location. There is no Mercedes dealer on island so a mechanic would need to order any parts you may need.
Don't ship it. You will no doubt have some scratches and dents even if you are a great driver. Mechanics for Mercedez and getting parts will be a pain like no other! Plus, you'll probably get stuff ripped off of it in Puerto Rico if it has to ship through there.
There are oodles of Mercedes here and mechanics to go along with them, but no dealer. If it is still under warranty you can pay for a technicuian to come over from the closest dealership which is in Puerto Rico. Parking is iffy and your car can get dings if you are not careful.
There are good private schools on island. The moving center you were refered to above, should hold that info.

Indy:
Apts...depends on the size. If you are just looking for a 1 bdrm., that is definitely doable for $1500. If you are looking for a 3bdrm./2 ba. home that is not so doable. I would start perusing the Island Trader to get a sense of availability and pricing. Their link is on the website in teh moving info you were referred to above.
Elementary schools. If you are housed in the Northside near Sibilly School that is within a decent distance of UVI. Also, it is one of the better public schools on-island.
I have seen several Mercedes SUV. They seem to be doing fine ...
