My girlfriend and I are really considering the BIG move!!! I have been researching the islands for almost a year and have gone on vacation there last summer. We are planning a semi pre-move visit this summer... (we will visit this summer to help further our knowledge of the islands in addition to our real pre-move visit we are planning in about a year) Can anyone help me with the names or locations of some decent and affordable apartments or condos... this is one of the more difficult things to locate on the internet and any help will be greatly appreciated

Does going on 2 pre move visits sound like a good idea?

Suggestions for place to stay: Crystal Palace, Flamboyant Manor, Pirate's Cove. I have a 2 bdrm vacation rental www.stthomasvirginisland.com. Two visits will give you more information so it is worth it.

Hello Joe,

Donna's recommendations are on St. Thomas.

Is that where you are moving? If not which island?

We are considering STT but not certain yet. It seems that the transition from the mainland would be easiest on St. Thomas. Which ever island we choose it will have to be between STT or STX due to the fact that we will be attending college there.

Which of those two islands have the lowest cost of living (we will be moving with about $25,000) and which island would you recomend moving to? At the time of our move we will be 20 and 21 years of age (not very experienced in life)... So we will deffinately need to make the right decision in order to make this move work out.

Hello Joe,

Make sure the major you are interested in is offered at both campuses. There are more majors offered at the St. Thomas campus; so this factor might make your decision for you.

St. Croix has lower priced real estate/rentals. Gas is lower on St. Croix. Everything else would be about the same when compared to St. Thomas. Check out our Cost of Living section at http://vimovingcenter.com/cost_of_living/ there are grocery lists there, water delivery estiamtes, rent...

Thanks for the help. I really like the idea of lower priced housing on St. Croix. I will look into the classes offered and try to make my decision.

hi joe....i live on st john and i must say that the commute to st thomas for school is an easy one that requires only minimal patience. if you do choose to live on st thomas then your patience must be high to begin with...bad traffic at times, and a careless culture that will be hard to take at times. st john is worth looking into esp. if relaxation and a stress free life interest you. housing is more but you can work it out esp. with the $ you have with you

St. John has always been my favorite among the islands due to its layed back atmosphere... I just never thought it was doable for two 20 year olds (worried about the money issue)... I would hate to make the move and 3 or 4 months later have to move back because i cant make enough money to live there. But I will deffinately check it out because living on st. john... DREAM COME TRUE
