My girlfriend and I will be in town this week for a job interview. If all goes well we will need to find a place to live on st thomas within a reasonable drive from town. We would like to rent for the first 6 months to try on the lifestyle, but we have three dogs (two big and one very small). Does this seem possible? What is the best way to go about my search when I get there? Any tips will help! Thanks so much.

Hello,

When you get here pick up an Island Trader and a Daily News. The Island Trader is a weekly publication of classifieds that comes out every Thursday and the Daily News is daily.

Sit down with a pen/paper and call all those listed that are of interest to you and ask if they accept pets - its hard to find but not impossiable. Ask if they accept pets first to illiminate them if they don't before asking other questions about rent ect. With 3 dogs you may not have the option of being picky in terms of requiring the apartment be close to town. Once you have a list of those that allow pets then set up apt. to go check them out. While you are out checking them out keep a notepad with you incase you see for rent signs along the road - you can them when you get back to your hotel or wherever you are staying. Do this when you first get there to maximize time.
