*After reading your site in its entirety, I must offer you my greatest appreciation. The information provided was and is incredible helpfull. A section I enjoyed most was that of "What to expect" reading people indivdual experiences on relocation. This leads into my actual question. Pondering a move I've decided to head the advice of the your writers and pay the islands an extended vist. What are the resources for finding housing for a 2 to 3 month time period? Are there any recomendations you can make? Thankyou for providing this site and the information, I enjoyed it greatly.

I must warn you as someone from this frozen state we call NH. If you go to the islands this winter for 2 or 3 months you won't ever come back to this block of ice.

Ronnie (a frequent poster to the boards) has a few properties and specializes in short-term rentals. They are also close to town, so you would not be stranded if you don't have a car.
Keep calling his name...I am sure he soon come.

P.S. I am a recent VI resident (5 months and counting), and I have never regretted or second-guessed our decision! (Well, I do miss California's dog-friendly off-leash parks, but the dog now gets Hull Bay all to herself!)

Jonathan,

Thank You very much for your apprecition of our web site!! It is wonderful to hear from folks who have found it to be useful!

Visiting for an extended work/vacation is a great idea. Onika's recommendation of Ronnie's properties is a good one, in addition you might consider some of the bed and breakfast facilites. You may want to stay at short term, a week or two at a b+b and then look for an apartment that is willing to rent for 3 months, pick up an Island Trader upon arrival and call listings, and inquire as to whether the apartment is furnished and if the land lord is willing to take you as a rentee for a short period. Often times they prefer 6 months to a year, but properties in St. Thomas are numerous, and so I am pretty sure you could find something.

Thank You again, I hope your trip goes well - and should you become an Island Resident - I would love to have your story, perhaps someone could read your 'what to expect' story when pondering a move to the USVI!!!

Hello Onika,

I was wondering if you would be interested in sharing your tips for moving, opinions about the USVI, what to expect.. story. If you go to the moving guide on this site, and choose 'what to expect' you will find 4 stories from persons who moved here, this is what I mean. You have been a residents for five months now, and seem to love it - would be nice to have another story to share. E-mail me and let me know whether you are interested, or not interested.

Thank you for your feedback on this message board!! 🙂

I do have short term rentals that are set up for folks like Jon. I offer a place that you can come to as you arrive, where a room is secure, complete with everthing to need to get started. Some folks stay for one, maybe two months, other have been as much as four or five and don't want to leave! The rooms come with telphone(when Innovative feels like it) Cable TV(Ditto previous) small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and a common kitchen. There is a pool as well as ice machine and washer and dryer on premises.

Dear Ronnie, or anyone who has info on lodging in your neck of the woods. We are looking to stay 2or 3 nights preferably in a home stay situation, due to the type of accomodations available thus far. High rise hotels and outrageously priced villas are not for us. Camping has its place, but $115.00 per night for a tent cabin with no bathroom, and cold water is a bit steep. Please help. There must be someplace out there where we can experience your beautiful island without going into debt. We are into surfing, snorkeling, and possibly wind surfing. We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California, about 20 min. from Santa Cruz. Would love to meet new friends that might want to visit us as well! Thnk you for your time and positive energy!

Suzy Q,
You can try the following in St Thomas:
http://crystalpalaceusvi.com/
http://www.st-thomas.com/villasantana/

Or this in St John:
http://www.stjohninn.com/

Realistically though you can't expect to find much in the way of accommodations in the USVI for under $100 a night.
