hospital jobs STX
hello my friends, I hope, MY wife is thinking about taking a job at the hosp. on STX. I am retired and she has 8 - 10 yrs to go. I have read that there is alot going on @ hosp. she thinks we can settle in for retirement, hosp salary seems to good to be true. we have vacationed in STT and loved it, but who doesn't. we are going to make a pmv for vac soon. can somebody chime in on hosp situation before we make the wrong decision...thanks a whole bunch
I am going for an interview at JFL this summer and would be taking a $1.20/hr pay cut as an RT. I live in San Diego so the pay is already high compared to the rest of the country. I wouldn't be surprised at $40 for floors or up to $60 for specialized (ICU/NICU/ETC)
I hope you are reading the Source (online paper) as there is something new every day, like this: http://stthomassource.com/content/news/local-news/2013/07/31/jfl-fires-vp-facilities.
Thank you for the link. But me, personally, I don't need to read that article. I work at a community hospital in north San Diego County. It was built in 1955 and has repeatedly been condemned as unsafe. We serve mostly uninsured working class people, mostly Hispanics (I too am Hispanic) and they simply can’t close us down.
I appreciate your input, but community hospitals like JFL simply do not close. People will still get sick and people will always need health care. There will be cutbacks, layoffs, rehires, board scandals, CEO issues, etc; that is the nature of the game.
I believe people that have worked in community hospitals have a better understanding of the politics involved. Private (for profit) hospitals provide, in my opinion, the same level of care but generally have more resources in regards to supplies, charting, equipment and on and on.
Bottom line is you do what you can do. Nothing is perfect and while it might be nice to have everything at hand, we live and work and adapt. There is a phrase here in San Diego, next to our sister city Tijuana, that I have always loved. It is called “Mexicaneering”. It’s when you do what you can do and get creative to get it done.
thank you east ender for the source, not too worried about the upper big dogs as much as I'm worried about the middle nurse management, RN'S and the little people. how do you think they take to mainlanders.
Charlie, I look at it this way: Why worry? The system might be changing, but the job isn't. Take care of folks the best you can and getting paid is nice.
To both of you: Why don't you consider coming to the bright side of the road? http://www.srmedicalcenter.org/
