Home Depot to sell generators today?
I heard a rumor that Home Depot would open today and will have generators for sale.
Not sure if that is true, but I thought I would spread the word just in case.
So, was it true?
They were still closed yesterday.
Gallows Bay Hardware was jam packed today.
Yeah now I heard they are to open today.
There was a lot of activity there this morning, and a cop was stationed at the little entrance road from the west.
So how was Home Depot today? Mobbed? Anything left on the shelves? All out of hammers, nails, and saws?
Scubadoo — Based on a picture that was posted on Facebook, the parking lot was full of vehicles. So I imagine ot was a real zoo inside the store.
They didn't have a Home Depot after Hugo.
I would think having it now could only speed up our recovery.
I'll be there scrambling for material myself tomorrow.
I know someone who waited 3 hours only to be told the generators were sold out. He said they let at least 100 first responders in first before anyone else.
He said there were no D batteries left, and it was slim pickings for a lot of items.
He saw a person faint during those 3 hours waiting outside, and one individual who kept running and trying to break into the line. He was tackled, lifted and physically removed by personnel who were there to control the crowd.
I won't be going near Home Depot for a few weeks. There isn't anything that they have that I need that bad. Gallows Bay Hardware and St. Croix Trading are good alternatives.

Sounds like a good plan.
Police Commissioner Delroy Richards said traffic has been horrendous, as thousands of people showed up at Home Depot on St. Croix on Tuesday, the first time the store has been opened since Hurricane Maria. Richards will deploy more patrols on the roads to make sure that no incidents occur due to traffic.
I was at HD around 11am this morning. Waited about 25 minutes on line to get in. AARP card holders went quicker.
By the time I got in, they announced all the generators were gone, however they said more were at the port and should be delivered later in the day and more due in tomorrow.
Inside still seemed pretty well stocked like usual... other than generators, some wiring in electrical, most batteries were also gone,
AARP card holders went quicker.
Actual AARP cards or VI senior ID cards?
The VIPD officer on site said if you had an AARP card, you could move to the quicker line.
However, I didn't see anyone actually showing their card, they just seemed to be letting anyone that looked 60ish and over to switch lines.
Have the crowds subsided at HD yet or do they still have security posted at the front door?
i hear the lady who fainted ended up getting a generator.
