Is MSNBC the channel carrying the US/ Canada Hockey? Is MSNBC available on Innovative or DirectTV?

WOW!! 2-2 end of regulation. USA scores with 24 secs left to send it to overtime.

Cry-baby Sid the kid got the winner in OT... there was definitely no domination by Canada.. US played really well.

Great game, the 4 on 4 in OT definitely looked ot hurt the US though. They got outplayed in that format. I hate that they change the game so significantly (4-4 changes the whole strategy of the game) in a medal game. I would've been really pissed though if we would've lost it in a Shootout. They just shouldn't decide important games with "alternate" rules.

I know Sean, I mostly agree. But, I do like the excitement of the shootout.

In this case, Canada had all first line players, and we had mostly 2nd/3rd line players. So, 5-5, 4-4 and shootout favor Canada. So, with that, I was really impressed with our US team. Those guys really hussled. They pounded Canada (although I wish they would have pounded Pronger more - just because he injured Mike Green). No cheap goals. Great support. We won lots of 1-1. Ryan was great and Luongo was shaky. It was a close game.

And, of course we thought that it'd be Canada vs Russia. But Russia wasn't physical at all (except of course for OV), so Canada could do whatever they wanted.

My daughter has played against the Lamoreux girls and Kelly Stack. So we watched those games also. The gold game was great for women's hockey, but the other games (especially Sweden) were a real disappointment. Our girls had a great showing. I'm sure there will be a new wave of women hockey players after these Olympics. How about that "no checking" in women's hockey...

Can't wait until the Caps get back in action!

Are you a Caps fan Eng? I am myself although I must admit I'm a big Devils fan too. When I moved back to DC after college I had season tickets (split with some other guys) and after suffering through the Jagr years it is great to see them finally put together a homegrown team!

I do love the shootout and 4-4 to settle non-elimination hockey games. In the preliminary round and in the NHL regular season I'm all for it. But that's as far as I can go as a hockey purist, a game as big as the gold medal game should be settled playing real 5 on 5 hockey IMO!

What is up with no-check in woman's hockey? That's like playing flag football...seems like if women are playing women there is no reason to not allow checking.

I miss hockey more than anything down here, I'm playing in a College alumni game in April, it will be the first time I lace them up since last summer.

Yup, being in the Washington area, the Caps are our team. I agree, it was so painful to watch the team try to put up with Yagr towards the end. I was sorry to see Bondra go, but I didn't understand the game as well as I do now (not that I understand it yet... it doesn't just look like a riot on ice anymore).

I can't stand Pittsburgh, just because their fans are so obnoxious when they come to DC. OK, also because Sid is such a cry baby. And, of course they used to out-number the Caps fans, at our games, before OV. A neighbor of ours has season tickets. His seats are literally two rows in front of the "horn guy". My wife and I once went with the neighbor's tickets... damn that horn is loud! When my daughter is home from college I get tickets for her and my wife. I'm perfectly happy watching the games on HDTV.

I can only imagine what the pucker factor must be like in sudden death or a shoot out for the Olympics!

I was kinda kidding about the "no checking"... they definitely check, but they must have great lawyers, because they don't call it checking. "Physical contact" is OK, so instead of checking a player who has the puck (although they might as well call "angling" checking in many cases), they speed straight into a player while "going for the puck". I've watched women's hockey for many years now because of my daughter. They don't have the size or the speed, but they play with just as much heart. I enjoy watching the games. It was really funny when my daughter was younger. You'd see a bubbly cheerleader go running into the locker room, and out would come a fully clad hockey player. On the ice, the cheerleader was more like a HellCat... "chicks with sticks"... "PMS = Penalty Minutes Served".

Of course inline hockey is also popular in the DC area. I coached my daughter in her younger years. If we could get some cheap 2nd-hand equipment it would be fun to try to start a youth league in STX. There is no checking in inline either (you don't slide on concrete or asphalt).

I'm sure that hockey gets in your blood. I never played, but I love to watch it. It's a great game once you understand it. Best of luck in your alumni game!
