Hi-speed internet
*I was wondering about access to hi-speed internet access from home if one were to purchase on the island.
Is there cable modem access? Or do you have to use DSL through phone company?
What are the costs?
I'm continuing to research but haven't found my answer yet. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

DSL over phone line through VI Powernet and DSL wireless through Choice Communications. It depends where you are whether you can get service.
No cable modem access as far as I know.
Here is the info. on this site for internet.
There are three basic types of Internet service in the U.S.V.I; dial up, wireless ADSL and Wireline ADSL. Dial Up is offered by local Internet Service providers, primarily VIPowernet and Viaccess and runs about $20 a month. Mainland companies like AOL and MSN also provide Internet dial up service. Wireless ADSL (Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line), which has a small antenna on your roof, is offered by VIAccess. Residential rates are around $100 per month and reliability is very good. But coverage is somewhat poor in terms of the entire island. A site survey will need to be done before you can sign up. They offer this service free. There is a tie-in discount if you also subscribe to their wireless cable TV (Antilles Wireless) service. Speeds are reported at 150-180K Wireline ADSL is run over existing telephone lines ADSL. Rates are much lower, around $70 dollars per month with an installation charge of around $200.00. This service is offered by VIPowerNet. Reliability is good; speeds are reported at 140-170 K in most areas. However the closer to the telco switch the faster speeds will be.
