Good Evening All,

I well be arriving in STX next week for a new job interview. I am from the states but have been living in south america for the last 8 years. I have been here for 2 days reading a lot on this message board. Some good stuff here. Both useful stuff and funny stuff. I have not run into anything about US-VI taxes...maybe haven't looked enough yet....but I understand taxes are paid to US-VI version of the IRS.....can someone give me a quick run down on this..the who what when where and how much.....or is there a website....I have been tax-free for the last 8 years and this will play a part in my negotiations....Also anything on migrations for other foreigners coming to STX....Thanks in advance..... Dave

You're a US citizen or hold a green card, I assume? See this thread:

Taxes will be withheld by your employer just like in the states. They will take social security, medicare, and the equivalent of federal income tax, which stays in the VI. There are no "state" or "local" taxes.

Hello David,

Welcome to the board.

The employment tax amounts follow the federal tables/percentages, the filing dates are the same... so you can check the IRS web site at http://www.irs.gov/ for information. There are particulars in regard to US territories so do a search on the IRS site for 'Individuals Living or Working in U.S. Possessions' to read up on that.

What do you mean by anything on migrations for other foreigners?
