Marty:

Its been a while since I've posted. I've completed my move and am settled down out here "in the country". you mentioned a place / marina to get fresh fish. I lost the e-mails so was wondering if you could re-educate me.

Hello Dennis,

On St. Thomas:

There is usually a fish vendor selling from a truck on the right side of the road just past the entrance to Pricesmart heading toward KFC/Banks/Tutu Park Mall on some weekday mornings and on Saturdays. Also on Saturdays, there is sometimes a lady selling fresh fruits, herbs, maubi and other island goodies and a gentlemen selling hanging baskets, hibiscus & other tropical plants. You might also see small-large tanks there. All in the same little corner - if they are all there its hard to miss.

Early in the morning there is a Fish Market by the Lionel Roberts Stadium, where local fishermen sell their catches. You can also try Frenchtown early in the am, right by the water where the little fishing boats are lined up. Ask around.

For marinas - I believe Sapphire Bay Marina in the afternoon is where you could try; several fishing charters operate from there.

I always go to Sapphire Marina just after dark and wait for the DoubleHeader boats to come in and buy my fish from them. Can't get any fresher than right off the boat!! Unless I had a grill ON the boat!! Haha!
