Hess/Hovensa Refinery
Hello,
Does anyone on here work at or know about working for the Hess/Hovensa Refinery? I saw the post one lady had about her husband getting a job there and was asking about the housing and I went to the Hess website. The actual site for the Hovensa Refinery wouldnt load so I couldnt get much info except an address and number. I tried calling but didnt get an answer. I was thinking about mailing them my resume. Does anyone know what they pay or what kind of a place it is to work at (like the attitude of the people)? How far is it from Christiansted? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
HelloTim,
Try calling a few more times so that you know exactly who to send your resume to; so you have a contact person to follow up with and talk to.
There is a user on the board named Lee, whos wife works at the Refinery... you might drop him an e-mail at ( info@managedfreight.com ) and see if he can tell you the human resources number and more importantly a contact person in that office that could help you with openings and where to send your resume.

Depends on whether you work directly for HOVENSA or one of the many contractors they employ on site. HOVENSA pays REALLY well (in my opinion, they OVERPAY some of their staff) and many of the positions include primo bennies like camp housing, moving expenses to and from STX, and private school tuition for your kids.
It's a huge, monster refinery and is the second largest employer after the VI government. The "environment" in which you work depends largely on WHERE in the refinery you're working. What is it that you do?
It's located mid-island and is about a 15-20 minute drive from C'sted.
Thank you Islander and VirginBound. To answer your question VirginBound I have never worked at a refinery but it seemed like a good place to start since they employ a lot of people. I would rather do manual labor than one like my present job at a pizza place. If you dont mind I have another question about it, what is the area like near the refinery? Is there stores or anything like that near there and is there good housing? I probably wont have a car when I first move so I will need to be close to at least somethings until I can afford a car. And thank you islander for the lead to Lee. I will email him and see if he wouldnt mind helping me a little. I see his address is at managedfreight.com, does he work for them and if so do they do moves from the states to there and is it a good company to use?
Thanks again for your help,
Tim
I've gotten the impression that Lee owns Managed Freight> Lee??? And he does shipping for your relocation and can help with all that too. From household to car...
