Help! Washer/Dryer issues...Advice?

Hello again!
Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to get a stackable washer/dryer cheap? I remember looking months ago at Gallows Bay and maybe it's just the cost of living on STX but it was at least 3x the prices of ones here!

Even if someone knows of a used one (that works) that someone doesn't need anymore, that would work for us! I'm also up for ideas for cheaper methods or i guess we'll just have to break down and buy an expensive one!

Thanks in advance and sorry for rambling!
Amanda

Amanda - some of the St. C's units also just have a regular washer and dryer stacked on top of each other in the washer/dryer closet. This works if the appliances have controls on the front instead of up on top. You can sometimes get better washers and dryers as individual piecs at lower prices than if you buy the stackable unit.

Hi Amanda,

I don't know if this will help with you being on STX, but I saw a stackable unit at Price Smart on STT. I believe it was $879.

some companies make stacking ones that are separate units, so NEXT TIME you don't need to replace both units when one goes bad. Phil (GB) probably only has the pricy component ones, though, unless you can order. GE used to make a reasonable 2 piece unit. Our old condo assn used to deal directly with GE in PR, so it was only a few days for them to send a unit over, but I don't think that many, if any, manage rs do that now. Many apts don't have the room for full sized ones.Oscars sells units too, as does western auto and some of the arab-owned furniture stores.

Check Oscar's - he sells refurbished appliances. I know what you mean about the prices. When our friends come to visit and ask, "what can we bring; is there anything you need?" Boy, do we have an answer for them. One brought down a ceiling fan and the last one, a built-in microwave oven. They checked it as a piece of their luggage, the overweight cost was only $25.00 and we still saved over $200.00. I try to buy local when possible, but.....
Know how can you get that washer/dryer checked?????hmmmmm.....:-)
seriously, check with Oscar.

We live on STT, and bought our stackable at Western Auto, which was the only place we could find the narrow width we wanted. Price was fine, and we are pleased after 2 years.

the lower priced option for appliances on STX is to buy them through the military's PX if you have a friend who has military ID and can get access to purchase and collect things for you.
