Any suggestions?

The 2 persons I normally use have not responded so need a new contact.
The stove top lights but pilot for oven won't stay on.
The regulator may need to be replaced but that is not why the oven pilot is not lighting.

Thanks in advance.

Similar problem -- propane ran out really fast this time, call Antilles, guy comes out and tells me that the pigtail is totally shot and needs replacing. He's got it semi-rigged, but I have to go out and turn on the gas at the tank to cook, then as soon as I'm done, run out and turn it off. Not very good set up when I want to poil this rotisserie chicken carcass for chicken broth to make into chicken tortilla soup! That is an all day, sometimes two, process. What type of person does this? An electrician? A plumber? My landlords are no help, either, all they say is "we've never had this happen before" which implies to ME that they think this is somehow MY fault! Very aggrivated at the moment, probably because since I've not been able to cook for days, I might just be HUNGRY!

You can also try Champion - Joseph Greaux - 690-1672
He also does A/C repairs and sales.
I have found him to be very good as well as responsive.

Sounds like regulator needs to be replaced if you are leaking propane from the tank.
Best to get this replaced as soon as possible.
VIsnorkeler - the driver is a driver.
Sometimes they can do it for you but best to call someone that does appliance repairs for a living to fix.

The pipe where the oven pilot light is located may just need cleaning.
I have had this happen with the oven in my rental house if tenants don't use the oven much.
The all along the pipe and where the pilot is lit, gets dusty (or can be greasy in some cases) and won't stay lit.
Cleaning it well usually resolves the problem (for me, anyway).

I turned off the pilot on the stove top as range is under window and a breeze always would blow the pilot light out which is dangerous as propane can escape into the home so tenants just use a lighter wand to light the propane burners when needed.
Sure don't want the home to explode in a fireball if someone walks in and lights up after propane has been escaping all day if the pilot blew out.

There is a screw under the range top hood (depends on type stove) and it controls the pilot lights on the stove top to the burners.

Under the range top may need cleaning as well as grease and gunk can accumulate which can interfere with keeping the pilot light lit.
Best to call someone knowledgeable to resolve these issues, if you don't have a clue.

Alana, it was my fault! I brought it back up again because I had a similar problem. Landlords didn't even know what type of repair person to call. Thank you for giving me a number to give to them! I appreciate it. Poor driver was just doing his best to allow me to be able to cook at all until the landlords can get the "pigtail" fixed.

VIsnorkeler - You should just call your landlord and offer to call the repair person directly since someone, (most likely you) will have to be there when he comes to fix the problem. Offer to pay repair person, directly, and ask if you can deduct amount from your rent.
Save the reciept to give them and keep a copy for yourself. It is not a safe situation to have propane leaking from anywhere and it endangers you as well as thier property. Good Luck! Let us know how it goes.

We live in the same house -- I have the "attatched cottage" around the back. I just have to take the paper I wrote that number upon and knock on the front door. And that propane tank is at their back door! I would think they would be just as concerned about this as I am, but...
