Hello from North Carolina
Hey Y'all
I have lived on the East Coast of the US from NYC to Miami. Currently, we live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am married, 52 with a wife, 4 sons, a dog and a cat. I am in the very early stages of considering a position that would require me to relocate to St. Thomas. I welcome your thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc.

Hi Bruce. You might want to spend a little time reading through the archives on a couple of issues. First is: school for the four boys. Is your employer going to help with the cost of private school? (You can also read about the public schools.) Is everyone on board for an adventure??
As EE said, Public schools are not going to be your first choice...if memory serves, I believe they are not even accredited...or has this changed? In any event, private school is the way to go, but you'll spend about $1,000 per month, per child for school. And you have to drive them there. And housing is going to be very expensive for a place that big enough for the family and pets., too....figure at least $3,000/mo for a place big enough that accepts pets. Read thru the board, you will find loads of info. A PMV is imperative for someone in your situation.
Bruce, is the job a car mechanic? Just wondering.
some of the public schools had become accredited with in the last two years, but not sure which ones. private school, depending on where and what age is typically about 10-15 thousand per child
Thank you for your note

Hello there BeachcomberStt, I like where you were going with that. It's nice you're watching his back.
WGAF, don't want to see a whole family go thru what happens at that auto mart.
Bruce, good it's not an auto mechanic/technician. Wouldn't want to see your family's life maybe turned upside down.
I agree with all advice the above posters are giving you.
Sometimes the children adapt, sometimes they don't. We don't have the fancy malls, movie theaters, restaurants like they might be used to in the states. But they might learn to love water activities, like snorkling, scuba diving(takes $), etc.
Remember the drinking age is 18 years old here. Not 21. You have to deal with that if they are around that age range.

If you can put your money on the bar, then you are old enough to drink.
