So long story short... at 41 I've ending a loveless marriage ( on nice terms ) and gave up my possessions. Now I only own clothes.. lol... and a job in logistics. My plan is to bank money for a year... get dental work done, dr. Visits, etc. make a trip to VI then make the move. I'll save money in the meantime since I have the opportunity. I've been to most islands in the Caribbean however being a USA citizen this is the easiest choice. I don't mind spotty internet and power outages. I'm more laid back and enjoy the finer things in life like nature and relationships with people. I just joined so just dropping in to say hello and hope to make some friends here in the next year or so while I make my move. This has been a long time coming and I understand the struggle but I'm strong and I'll regret not trying the rest of my life if I don't attempt this. The day my status goes to " he lives here" I'll throw a cookout and you're all invited! Live, laugh, love..

I was 2 years older than you are now when I did that 21 years ago. Only difference was, I came as a widow of 5 years wanting to start anew. I met my current husband here and have never looked back. I'm on St. Croix and love it here!

Thanks for response. I have been reading a ton for the last few months. As long as the rats, cockroaches, and centipedes don't take much room... well sleep well together. Any advice you have is GREATLY appreciated. Just pm me. Thanks and much love. Dan

I moved here last May, and it's been amazing. You sound like you've got the right attitude and a sense of humor, which is always helpful. I'm on STT, and I'm 60. Life here is glorious, warts and all. Read all the forums, sounds like you've made a good start. Read the VI Consortium and the Source. If you are on Facebook check out the group What's Going on St. Thomas. Welcome!

Spray the area with WD40...takes the sting away immediately.

Wow, you are brave!

Wishing you all the best!

I may be moving to St. Croix in the next couple months (am waiting on the official job offer).

You give me strength to be brave (moving is hard enough; moving across the water is scary).

I hope to me you there one day 🙂

"I'll regret not trying the rest of my life if I don't attempt this."

This is probably the biggest reason many of us end up here. 😉

Yes...many times. It works with fire ant, wasps, centipedes and the like.

I keep a spray can of WD40 by the back door in case of emergencies.

Welcome! I'm doing the same exact thing. I'm 37 and just ended my loveless marriage as well. I'm staying with my mom for a year to save up some money and move to my dream place the US Virgin Islands! I'm just looking to meet some new friends on here over the next year while I prepare to move. I hope we both find our happiness here 🙂

My decision to move had an element of that in it.
