Helicopter, police, Christiansted
Anyone know why the helicopter has been circling Christiansted all morning and so many police are about?
An escapee from Golden Grove; a perpetrator of a crime (maybe the one or two connected with the stabbing of a couple of homeless or not men with one or two dogs; an exercise to gauge emergency response; checking out roadworthiness of police vehicles and seeing if the helicopter blades still work after routine maintenance ... or maybe a local restaurant has a lunch special for VIPD personnel.
I'm having a quiet afternoon on STT so am really excited to have all this drama coming from STX to keep me occupied and all agog. 😀
Glad to help keep you entertained. 🙂
The incident apparently started when a homeless man wanted to buy an Amazon Kindle at the Old Mikes Electronics store, as a gift to one of his dogs. At the counter, he was engaged in a heated discussion with an escapee from Golden Grove, about whether the high price of orange juice in VI is justified by the cost of shipment, given the price of the same merchandise in Denver, Colorado. At that point, another non-homeless man walked in the store, and accused the store manager of acting "non-white", to which the store manager proudly stated, "I am Canadian". Things span out of control when the Golden Grove escapee was compared to an STX gay realtor who was seen aggressively advertising his services in the local churches. That's when the police came in, which made the whole thing even worse, because the police K-9 unit attempted to copulate with a homeless man's dog.
A bystander apparently called the acting AG of USVI on the cellphone to report the incident, at which point the AG ordered the police to deploy helicopters and the National Guard. In a limited show of force, the police used knives and axes, accidentally stabbing a homeless man.
really, always a jerk. way to make fun of someone who was seriously wounded and his dog seriously wounded.
Unbelievable...another day in America's Paradox!
The Coconut Telegraph is paradoxical.
