My family and I are considering a transfer to St Thomas. My wife has celiacs disease and therefore has a very restrictive diet free of wheat, barley, rye, and anything else that contains gluten. Here in Alaska we have spent a lot of time establishing food sources; vegetables and fruits from small farms in Washington, organic pasture fed meats, small local health food stores, and a co op through an organic foods distributor. If any sources like these exist in St Thomas PLEASE tell me. I have had little luck researching it all online and if we cannot eat...
I know shipping costs will increase a bit but they are not that cheap right now, no ground service to our island either.
Any info would be great.

Natural Food Deli in Havensight has pretty much cornered the market here. Gluten free products are available at Plaza Extra and with a lesser variety Food Center.

The 7th Day Adventist Church has a couple of book/food stores and can obtain most anything you want but I doubt they will do meat or veggies. Flours, raw products, etc. should be available.

I've planned and executed week long menus for celiac diets for the yacht on two occasions. It was challenging but we achieved a nice variety of foods for three meals a day from "on-island" sources. Long term would be more difficult but I imagine you are more adept at the actual things she can/cannot eat. I believe it can be done.

Thank you for the in depth reply it's good to know there is hope. If you should ever have celiac guests again my wife is working on a gluten free cook book with many baked goods recipes that I'm sure she would share with you.
