Hi,
I have been reading the archives on this board all day, we just found out we may be moving to STT next month. All this info is really helpful! Thanks all you posters...
Ok, we have a two year old and we are expecting our second baby mid March. Do the doctors at Roy L. Schneider hospital have a good reputation for handling births and/or complications? Does anyone know anyone that has given birth at that hospital, or have gone to the mainland? I would appreciate any opinion or information.

I know two people who have given birth on STT at RLS (I'm sure other folks know many more!)- one was 16 yrs ago; one was 2 yrs ago.
Both said they were pleased with the services and facilities there.
I'd suggest that you visit the facilities and speak with more folks, then draw your own conclusion.

Since we have over 50K people here, and only 20% or so are from off island, I'd guess that delivering 40K babies in the last X years has given them some practice. Haha! Some people also use midwives here. Maybe get one of them and use her on a beach? Whoa! How cool would that be? haha!

Doesn't sound pleasant OR sanitary!!! 😉
Stick with the hospital, smyliegirl- Marty's got a point- there have been an awful lot of babies born there!

Hopefully you are still on the board. I remember reading that you worked in L&D at the STT hospital, any insight for this expecting mom?

I've know several women that had their babies at RLS hospital. The most recent one was a few years ago. The nurses were very good. Quickly got Mom all set up, talk to Mom/Dad to calm any nerves, doctor arrived shortly. Baby was a month premature. The baby’s pediatrician came; made sure everything was A-Ok! Nurses were very friendly and professional. Mom & Baby were just fine and the Dad was too!! 🙂
Then a couple years before that other friends had their baby there. Visited the couple & baby same day of delivery and everyone was doing well, no complaints.
