I currently live & work in New York. I work for a cable company, Cablevision, as an Administrative Assistant. My dream is to move to VI and do what I love, make tiles and pottery for a living. Until my dream is reality, I'm looking for a job in the cable industry in the VI, pref. St. Croix. I remember, a few years ago, someone that worked for my company up and moved to St Croix and he works for a cable company. I can't recall his name and don't know where to look for him.

Would anyone have any ideas of who to contact in order to find employment in the cable or satellite companies? Also, does anyone know of tile distributors that may be interested in taking a look at my tiles (custom handmade)? I'd appreciate any help.

My website is www.jupoart.com. I want to live right, and I want to live right in St. Croix. I understand the people are as beautiful as the surroundings.

Thank you.

The Cable Company is Innovative Communications - (340)779-9999

I remember meeting an artisit that made his own tiles and was from St. Croix... met him at an Art Fair on St. Thomas... he had made a small business of selling the custom tiles to home owners, villa owners, hotels not for the whole wall but for making a center peice in say the kitchen or pieces to make a statement in the bathroom and so forth... so it is possiable. There are tile shops you could try and market your tiles too - you should look in the yellow pages at http://www.viphonebook.com and search for tile you will find a listing of them. Perhaps when you live here you can make appointments to show them your work so that you can wholesale to them, or maybe pay them to put a small advertising table with your tiles and pay them a commission for referals??? You might also consider making island themed ceramics, x-mas ornament, for sale in tourist shops.

For more information on planning a move to the USVI consider ordering a Settlers Handbook from http://www.vitraders.com - it will answer many of your questions and some you did not think of!!

All the best.

Oh thank you so very much for your response. I will try everything that you suggest. I'm so excited that I'll be taking some time off of work to persue this.

Thanks again Islander.

P.S.

I assume that you've lived there all of your life? Must be wonderful!
