Evening!
Ok so I do a HUGE yard haunt for Halloween which I have already started making my new props for this year.I actually asked about this on my PMV in July (lol) and heard that not too many go all out. I've been on the news and always have a line down the block to check out the decor. My addiction is so severe that we will be bringing my decor that will fit in totes and re-making the big stuff. I can leave anything else but not my Halloween stuff. Its a sick sick addiction HAHAH but its SO fun for me! I always feel like a kid in a candy store going through home depot looking for stuff that I can make into cool props. I wanted to know what exactly do people do on STX? I heard there's usually a big Halloween party but are there trick or treaters, I know homes are kind of spaced out. Does anyone go all out for yard haunts? I know there are quite a fair amount fi very religious people, does that cause a problem, or would it offend locals?? I REALLY hope I will be able to continue to do my yard haunts, its really fun for me and the neighbors! Thanks in advance 😀

Houses are relatively far apart, many at the end of long drives. Many properties have gates. No trick or treaters. Unless you live in a "stateside-like subdivison" (and there are a few) or in one of the towns, no one will see your decorations. Some people have house parties, and Palms of Pelican Cove used to have a large party, but few others.

hovensa housing used to have rick or treating, sunny isle has trick or treating for the kids. a few schools have harvest parties and there are at least two costume parties=one at the casino and one to support i think the animal shelter. but no real trick or treating i have heard of like in the states. i too love halloween

Some of the local bar/restaurants have halloween parties! If you enjoy it that much, perhaps you could talk to the owners and see if they would allow you to set up your YARD HAUNTS for the party. Try Coconuts on the Beach, west end, or even Domino Club in the rain forrest. It would be a good draw for business. Mearly a suggestion. Have Fun!

Now that Hovensa is gone, safe Halloween trick or treating is likely gone as well.
I know the dogs in my area would be feasting on little treat or treaters if they dared to walk the streets at night.
Especially if carrying food!!!

Country Day school is having a trunk and treat. people decorate their trunks and area around their vehicle, kids walk around collecting treats. there will be other activities as well, could be a great place for you to set up.

Sheiba, that would be fun to but most of my decor wouldn't fit lol! 90% of my things are home made and over 8ft tall lol!!! I'm obsessed! Here is a few pics from last year.

Why dont any photos load for me? Im using the IMG code from photobucket but im on all apple products. Doesnt show up on ipad macbook or imac????? Just wheel that says loading. Anyone know why?? Can you see the pics?

It's tricky loading photos on this site. Don't know what to tell you but I've had the same problems. Assume you've read the "how to download photos" under Board Rules and Help"?

Lol thanks sheiba I told ya its was big and that's only like 1/2 of it. I can't bring the big stuff but I can make it again, that entry way is only made with 1/2 in foam from home depot 2X2s and then I painted it. Cost me about $30 to make. I pride myself on spending little to nothing and having a killer haunt! Many of my things are made using found objects and my graveyard like 30 toumbstones i made all for free from boxes and some paint. I love Halloween, I can really let myself loose with creativity! 😀
