What a gorgeous green flash off the west end of St Croix tonight! I caught this one on video. Cool.

OK. It's up. The video is blurry but you can clearly see the green flash especially if you expand the window and/or pause it. Enjoy!

thanks so much..i think a lot of people think a green flash is something made up..they are very rare and special ..i have seen 3 in my life 1/nigrel jamica 2/off the wall stx 3/west end stx..we are bessed in stx to see as many as we do!!

Studies done on the green flash indicate over 80% of people who report seeing the green flash were drinking a Heiniken at the time. 😎

Here are but two of the great resources on the net. The first one has links to some great photos and discusses the difference between mirages and optical illusions.
"Green flashes are real (not illusory) phenomena seen at sunrise and sunset, when some part of the Sun suddenly changes color (at sunset, from red or orange to green or blue). The word “flash” refers to the sudden appearance and brief duration of this green color, which usually lasts only a second or two at moderate latitudes. These pages illustrate and explain green flashes, offer advice for seeing and photographing them, and provide information about other refraction phenomena, such as mirages."

"One should not forget that green flashes are also seen at sunrise, when the eye has not been previously exposed to bright light, and the retina is in its normal, unbleached state. Sunrise flashes are therefore seen more nearly in their intrinsic colors."

Around 1059pm tonight 02/17/2021 I was sitting on the beach outside of my room at the Lime tree resort looking up at the stars and out of nowhere a very large green light falls from the sky into the ocean. I do not drink and have not consumed any drugs. My mind is blown. The whole time I've been here I have felt like I'm living in a dream. After several searches on Google I finally searched "i just saw a large green flash in the night sky go in to the ocean on st thomas" ant that seach lead me to this forum. I am astounded by what I have just seen.
