This month's (June 2010) issue of "ARTHUR FROMMER'S BUDGET TRAVEL" has a really nice 3 page article of vacationing at the Creque Dam Farm.
Has many great color photos and a good report of events, places, and persons responsible.
Nice introduction to those who like Eco tourist type vacations...great show for the island!!!!
Maybe this is the direction the island should take...Eco responsibility!!!

I really liked this article. I'm not sure that it will attract a bunch of high rollers with deep pockets. Some other articles leave you wondering if flowery rhetoric is just code speak for "tourist-trap".... the only rhetoric close to flowery in this article is the reference to agriculture. Yet, I really liked the author's simple descriptions, and the overall picture that was painted. This article shows another side of STX, which personally would draw me right in. What a cool place. I can't wait to visit Creaky Dam (is that really how they pronounce it?) on my next trip. Like the author, I think I'd opt for the bottle of Rum. I also liked that they pointed out the left side driving.

Creque -'creaky' - yes it is pronounced that way - an old VI family name and in STT "Creques Alley" inspired a song of the same name by the 'Mamas and Papas' while they resided here in the 60's.
