Good Hope Country Day in St. Croix
Hi All,
My family and I are currently living in the caribbean but are looking to other caribbean islands for a better education for our children (the island we live on has shabby public and private school options). Looking at Good Hope Country Day in St. Croix which seems great online but wondering if anyone here could give me a more personal review of the school. We're looking for something great- not just "good enough." Anything you can add to our folder of information would be highly appreciated. Also, if there is another AMAZING school (private) on another island you're very familiar with, we're open to hearing about it as well.
thanks so much for your time.
Antilles and Montessori are both private schools located on STT.
everyone i talk to who has kids say it is excellent. my boss sends his kids there.
Good Hope Country Day School is an outstanding school.
As an educator for over 40 years,I can tell you that GHCDS has a rigorous curriculum,a caring and innovative faculty who challenge students to their full potential.
All classrooms are equipped with the latest technology and the graduation rate for college is close to 100%.
I have personally seen students of all cultures blending together and they seem to enjoy each other as they learn together.
Extracurricular activities abound here as well ...sports,music,theatre,chorus,etc
Hope this helps!!!
My daughter went to GHCDS for the last few years of her high school education. Its an excellent school and we were very happy with the time she spend there. Its a bit expensive at about $14,000 a year but was a very good experience all around.
I have heard very good things about Good Hope Country Day School here on STX, as we have several friends who have their children there. VI Montessori and Antilles on STT are excellent as well (from many, many friends who I know whose kids attend). No first hand experience, as I don't have children, but know many parents who are very happy about their children's education at all of these schools.
I do not have any children that go to GHCDS but I do have friends who's children either go there or went there. They have no real complaints about the school other than the expensive price tag. I do also know the GHCDS has lost quite a few students over the past year or so and they are hurting for students. GHCDS used to have a cheaper tuition and offered sibling discounts. That was thrown by the wayside at the beginning of last year right as the tuition went up to $14,000 per year, per child. I know that the director there was calling parents of students, at the beginning of this school year, who has left GHCDS and was offering almost a 50% discount to get their kids to come back. That right there tells an interesting story. Lack of tuition means lack of other things.
