getting prescriptions filled
Can I get a prescription from my Dr/NP in the US filled on ST Croix?
I'm pretty sure you can. Kmart west or Golden Rock Pharmacy.
Yes, you absolutely can. I've done it without any problem at all at the Medicine Shoppe.
Just a heads up, though...if your prescription is at all rare, then the pharmacy may not have it in stock. They will order it, but of course, that may take a few days. If one pharmacy doesn't have it, another might.
Have done it often. Try Mt. Welcome Pharmacy - very customer friendly.
Yes. But don't try getting a refill stateside on a scrip you've previously had filled at a USVI pharmacy. My experience on that was at best a huge hassle, at worse impossible (depending on which pharmacy you go to).
Really? I've done it in Dallas a few times with no problem, but usually I do try and make sure I'm fully stocked before I go. I've gotten spoiled with Mt Welcome where it usually takes 5 to 15 minutes to get filled, if I forget to call it in or have a new prescription. Stateside it often takes longer but there you can usually get a 3 month supply. So it's just a trade off.
CVS and other major drugstores told me it could not be done, because the Virgin Islands isn't a state. I tried using logic, talking with the pharmacist, being extremely nice, and none of it got me anywhere. Fortunately it wasn't an essential scrip, but I was surprised it was as challenging as it turned out to be. Glad you had a different experience!
I have often gotten a script refilled at Kmart in the States using just the bottles from the Kmart here - they did the phoning and it was also much cheaper. They turned me on to the 90 day supply for $15 and I had to talk the Kmart here into that price when I returned.
Exit,
Are you saying you actually negotiated a lower price at Kmart here?(tu)
