I will be living on St. John for the next year and was invited to a Wedding on the Bahamas. Is there any inexpensive way that does not involve going back to FL or the states to get from somewhere in the USVI and the Bahamas? Thanks!

Nope there isn't ! Either fly on AA via Miami. Or it might be cheaper to fly to PR and take Jetblue via Ft. Lauderdale.

There is no inexpensive way to get from the USVI to the Bahamas.

As you have probably already discovered, the way to get to the Bahamas from St Thomas is to fly to San Juan (SJU) and then fly to Nassau by way of Miami or St Lauderdale. Spirt shows a $280 round trip connection( sju-fll-Nas ). But you need to get to San Juan first.
American shows a $528 round trip from St Thomas to Miami to Nassau, that might be a better connection but will cost a bit more.
If you are going to an outer island such as Abaco, than it gets even harder, though there are direct flights to Abaco from Miami.

In AZ they say " you can't get there from where you are, you have to start from somewhere else":@)
