Getting dogs into St Croix
I will be shipping my dog to St Croix from another Island. Rabbies shot done and healt certificate OK, do you need a titer test, does the country vet have to meet it at the airport? On this Island the vet met us and OK'ed its arrival.

What island are you coming from? I think all of the recent postings about bringing dogs in has been from the mainland....no titers needed, and no one meets you at the airport....believe me, they move out of your way at the airport! All that is required on dogs coming from the mainland is the health certificate and current on shots.
I second that. We paid almost 60 bucks for a "health report" in Texas before we moved here. NOT A SOUL even recognized the fact that we had a dog, much less check for papers. We are glad we had the certificate, because around here, you never know what can happen! Good luck!!
All that I was told you require is a vet's certificate of health issued within 10 days of travel, and proof of rabies vaccination given not less than 1 month or more than 12 months before travel.
Which Island are you coming from? I took my dogs from the UK to Antigua, and not only did the Government Vet have to meet me at the airport (3 hours late, and at great expense), but the customs also charged me DUTY on my own dogs!
Anyone out there have any info about bringing dogs BACK to the mainland from St. Croix? I seem to recall reading somewhere that it's basically the same process when bringing them onto the islands - a health certificate/up-to-date vaccinations, and that no quarantine is required. Can anyone vouch for this from personal experience? I'd love to hear about anybody's experiences going back to the mainland with pets.
Thanks!
