I'm finally coming to the islands!
My family and I are staying in STT, but plan to spend a lot of time on St. John.
What is the best way to get around STJ? Jeep rental? Are there bikes to rent?

Also, how far/difficult is it to get from where the ferries come in to Trunk Bay?

I can't wait to swim in that water!

The turtles are usually at Maho, right?

Thanks!

Take your rental car from your stay on st.thomas over on the car barge to stj, if allowed. Budget & dependable car 'rentals both allow. Hertz does not. Nice sea grass beds for turtles at Leinster bay & waterlemon cay.

Rent from any agency on STT other than Hertz and you'll have the freedom (priceless) of exploring STT and also taking your vehicle to STJ on the car barge and exploring to your heart's content. Biking isn't an option - when you see the topography here you'll understand why!

Probably about 15 - 20 minutes max.
You have to pay a fee to get into trunk bay but it also gives you same day access to the Annenberg ruins on the hillside above Leinster bay.
The views are beautiful as are the ruins . Leinster has great snorkelling, imo.
