I appreciate everyone's help on my documentation question. Now, I get to VI, get a job - what is the system for filing taxes? Does your pay have the standard deductions like over here on the mainland? Thanks,

Yes. The only difference is your "federal" taxes are kept here in the territory. FICA, FUTA, Medicare, etc. all the same.

I've been told that it's particularly beneficial here to underestimate the federal taxes you pay, i.e. increase the number on the W-2. I understand that in previous years the VI government has taken months, even years, to pay tax refunds.
