Gardening Question
Hi,
Being an island "newbie" and knowing nothing about gardening in the tropics whatsoever, I have a question for all you green thumbs out there:
I have a small area at our current residence that is sort of a porch/entryway. The area has tiled floor, three walls, a ceiling and overhead, incandescent lighting. The area does not get any natural sunlight.
I was thinking that I might like to put some large potted plants or trees, and possibly a climbing vine in that area. I was hoping to compile a list of plants that might grow in this type of a spot and then see what I can find. (Any recommendations for places to buy plants on STT or STJ would be helpful too.)
Thanks :)!
Two excellent sources for plants and advice are Plant Depot in Tutu Park and Bryan's Plants and Garden Supplies in Dorothea on the Northside. I've also had good luck over the years just generally looking around and observing what grows where. If you get out into the bush in lowlight areas you can find some really good specimens from which you can take cuttings for propagation - be sure to also take some of the surrounding soil. Hope this helps a little and good luck green-thumbing!
