I am posting this message for those who might see the bucket at the steps leading down to Isaac Bay on STX and think it is there for trash pickup.

There is no regularly scheduled trash pickup and so when someone leaves a bucket it just gets filled to overflowing with trash. Although the land is owned by the Nature Conservancy they don't remove trash on a regular basis.

We were not able to go to Isaac for a few weeks and yesterday found an overflowing bucket and lots of garbage that had been thrown down the hill.

We carried out all the trash, along with the bucket.

So people please whatever you carry in, please carry out, and help keep Isaac Bay the pristine beauty that it should remain to be.

it still, after all these years, amazes me at the trash people just throw anywhere.

Yeah I can't believe it either. They carried the stuff in, how hard is it to carry it out?

Meanwhile, people think they are doing a good thing by putting a bucket there for trash, but it just gets filled up with trash until someone removes it. This isn't the first time we've removed a bucket from that area. When there is no bucket, there is much less trash. I'll remove the buckets each and every time I see one. I want to keep that beach clean. It's one of the few clean beaches on STX and it deserves to remain that way.

If memory serves me right, I thought they had trash cans there at Pt. Udall?

I never go from that side, I go from Grapetree side. The area where we have found buckets with trash, is when you hike from Pt. Udall and then arrive at that landing area with steps that leads directly to the beach.

People mistakenly think it's a good idea to put a bucket there for trash. While it keeps some trash off the beach, it fills up with garbage and then people just throw trash around the area when the bucket is full.

The better option is to carry out your trash. Or take it to the garbage can at Pt. Udall.
