Okay, I have been reading web-sites and think I have covered the entire message board People keep referring to the problems of frogs, etc. We hope to move down to STT in a few months and we have a small dog. On several occasions it has been referenced to watch your dog around frogs, centipedes and mongoose. What's the story???

Does anyone know if they caught that frog yet that ate that poor puppy?

well, they did have to shoot it twice with tranquilizer guns but it finally stopped killing those poor pit bulls.

On a more serious note: I heard, before moving down here, that if your Dog eats or tries to eat certain tree frogs (NOT the other way around 😉 ), there is a substance on the frog that is poisonous and can make your dog very sick. I suppose that may be what they're referring to with centipedes, too.

That said, I have lived in one house where there were centipedes all over, and now live where tree frogs abound. These critters never cause my dog problems. The biggest problem is ticks, but even that is manageable.

Hi everyone,

I actually knew that when I asked the question someone was going to HAVE to make a funny back. I wasn't so much concerned about a frog eatting the dog as a poison that would kill the dog. In retrospect it was a silly question, but this dumb dog is like a person to me. I guess if that's the biggest problem we have to worry about, we'll be lucky.

As long as I have made a fool of myself already, I have another question that will probably seal your opinion of me before I ever get there. My daughter is getting married on STT next Aug (2004). My other daughter is going to be her maid of honor. Nice?, One BIG problem. The maid of honor doesn't fly. I'm not that naive not to know that there are only 2 ways to get to STT, water and air. I found a cruise line that will let her go to STT, be dropped off and then picked up a few days later on the return trip. The cost a mere $2,000. Anyone else have another idea?(I can't wait to hear the swimming or start flapping your arms jokes!!).

It might be much less costly to get the maid of honor to the doctor for a tranquilizer or have her do a few sessions with a good hypnotist. I know several people who swore they'd never fly and now do so without difficulty since they've been taught how to cope by the hypnotist. It may sound goofy but I've seen it work!

I am trying the trank idea. I hadn't thought about hypnosis, great idea. Nothing sounds goofy at this point! She is totally irrational about the flying. Atleast I have a year to work on her. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep you posted.

Cheryl,

I don't think the frog question is silly.... had a cat that died after attacking a frog... the cat got very sick, wouldn't eat and the vet said the poison in the frogs skin is what killed the cat. To give a full picture though... had many cats and this only happened once. Also had a family dog that was poisoned but not my a frog but by a neighbor. So another thing to look out for. Another two pets were run over by cars... one survived one did not.

As for flying - Good Luck!!!

hey, just be glad we don't live in Puerto Rico, haunted by visits from the Chupacabras in the night!
