Fredrickston Beach
Hello all in St Croix
I have noticed on the Fredrickson Beach Web Cam www.gotostcroix.com
that there seem to be markers (?) in the water off the beach. It happend in the past few months that I have noticed. Is this something new? Are they marking a trail perhaps? Just curious, and thought someone from that area could answer.
Thanks
Ray
It's FrederikSTED, not FrederikSTON.
Bouys like the ones currently showing on the webcam may be for a variety of purposes. They may be for mooring boats, they may be markers for fish traps, they may outline a swimming zone that boats shouldn't come into, they may mark something shallowly submerged that could be a hazard for boat traffic, etc.
Just recently they put in mooring bouys all around STX.

Hello
Thanks for the info. I had just noticed the bouys recently on the web cam, and was curious. Fredricksted is a beautiful beach, and I check it out daily. We have visited twice, and would love to be there now.

Are we sure that those "bouys" are real? Or are they some electronic noise in the signal from the camera? I don't see them today on the web cam and I didn't see them when I was at that beach last May, about 7 weeks ago.
You may be on to something, as I don't see them today either.
which may mean they are fish trap bouys and the owner of the fish traps moved them to a different location.
That is where I go swimming and they are real. I believe it is to keep boats away from the swimmers.
I think I see the same white "bouys" on the Megans Bay cam on gotostthomas.com.
