More Details:

Frank Duggan was robbed. Upon returning to his home Saturday evening two men with a shotgun and baseball bat were waiting for him in his house when he walked in. They informed him that they knew who he was and wanted money. Frank handled the situation very well, since his kids and wife were upstairs unaware of anything occurring. Frank gave them what little money he had on him and then they demanded to see his safe. Frank said there is no safe, but they had him then go upstairs, he told them that there was children in their rooms and you don't want that. Luckily while going upstairs he was able to motion for them to get out and they did, when Frank reached the upstairs door leading out he just kept going and they all hide down in the bush. The robbers took his car and left.

Not at all to make light of the robbery or the danger involved, but we were just talking...about how the bad guys in the VI are not the brightest...robbing a stx restauranteur at the end of a Sunday night in August? And expecting him to have cash? Unfortunately I think some of the less intelligent can be the most dangerous, especially behind a gun.... the whole thing is scary, I'm glad it worked out as well as it did for Frank and his family.

As horrible as the longterm effects of a home invasion are, it seems this situation worked out as well as possible. Another possible good thing would be for the community to discuss how restaurant owners NEVER bring home cash - who would want to make their home a target? The Duggans never bring money to their house. I hope that information gets around so other people don't have to suffer the same horror.

I am so glad no one got hurt. They are a wonderful family.
