Flu Shots
Where can we get free or cheap flu shots in the USVI this season? Please post any info that you find.
The following info pertains to STX:
I found one free flu shot event so far, at the new Neighborhood Pharmacy on Oct. 23: http://stcroixsource.com/content/news/local-news/2015/10/05/health-beat-kisha-christian-opens-neighborhood-pharmacy
“The pharmacy is in the little plaza at the intersection of West Airport Road and Centerline Road. Christian believes the location is perfect, in the right neighborhood, right between both highways.
Christian is hosting a grand opening and health fair from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 25. There will be entertainment by ViVid Streaming DJ’s and “WE Deh Yah” Quadrille Group. There will be free cholesterol and diabetes screenings, and blood pressure readings. The Department of Health will be administering free flu shots, and the pharmacy will conduct Medicare enrollment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 23.”
I called the STX AARP, since they had a free program last year with the Health Department's mobile vehicle, but I found nothing yet. The local number redirects to a national number 866-389-5633, which sent me on an ever-blurring trip around the country (to the American Lung Association, and then to some kidney place). I’ll watch the local AARP’s Facebook page for any announcements.
I called the Health Department on STX and got no answer. Presumably they will have more mobile programs around STX.
Here is last year’s thread, for reference: https://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/read.php?4,230353
A friend told me yesterday that Walgreen's on STT is giving free pneumonia shots to seniors so if you're on this island you could give them a call and see what they have scheduled.

On STX, the new Neighborhood Pharmacy was supposed to have their free flu clinic today (Fri 10/23) from 9am-3pm, but I just called to confirm, and they have postponed it due to the current impetigo outbreak. Potentially they'll have the free flu clinic this Sunday, to be confirmed.
I did not call UVI to see if their flu clinic is on for today.
interesting that all the clinics are during the week when the majority are either at school or at work
On STX, the new Neighborhood Pharmacy did not hear back from DOH, so they assume there will NOT be a flu shot clinic tomorrow (Sun).
