Flora/fauna
Could someone please point me in the direction of a good book or internet resource for learning more about the plants, birds, animals, etc. of St. Croix? When I was a kid, my dad used to take me for walks in the woods and teach me what everything was, but the flora and fauna of the Appalachian Mountains and St. Croix don't overlap much. 🙂 I'm used to being able to identify most things, and I'd like to be able to do that on the island as well.

I'm currently getting an up-close opportunity to observe fauna. A brown crested anole, specifically.
Andy the Anole decided that my bedroom is his territory. He's been living in here for ~6-8 months. Spends the day hanging around my closet (hanging on my clothes, even). He gets up when I do, regardless of the hour. Light goes on, Andy comes out. I have to be careful to shake out the contents of my laundry basket prior to loading the washer in case Andy is hiding there.
He's done wonders for controlling my indoor ant population. In the morning Andy scurries over to the "ant buffet"-- a little crevice where there is usually a line of little ants coming in. I guess he's been getting water from my shower floor. If I don't shower, I sometimes splash some water on the floor in case he's thirsty.
He's been displaying his dewlap at me. Don't know if he's threatening me or inviting me to mate.
Anyway, roadrunner, Dockside Bookstore in Havensight carries a nice selection of local flora/fauna books, if you're ever on STT.
Thanks so much for the great suggestions!
