Glad I don't have to be on the roads today. Raining pretty steadily here since very early morning. Glad to have the rain without the stress of a storm, filling the cisterns and watering plants but our roads do get treacherous so if you don't absolutely have to go out, stay home and enjoy the cool weather. Be safe.
Geez, Alana, NWS posted that at 12:45 PM today? Warnings were out late last night/early this morning By 8AM I'd cancelled today's plans already. I'd invite you over for a kayak trip down the rushing river in the driveway but it's already quieted down!!! Plants and cistern are SO happy!
Which service sent out the earlier alerts? I only rcvd NWS, but don't subscribe to any. VITEMA was too annoying.
No clue which service but I was up at 5AM and St Thomas Source was carrying an, "Active Advisory: Flash Flood Warning, Flash Flood Watch" on their day's forecast.
And the power just went out as the rains have died down ... lovely!!!
Actually this is the 3rd alert they sent out today so far after the one they sent out yesterday re: last night and today flash flood warnings but only posted this one.
Thanks OT but I have my own rushing river on my road in front of house and all I hear is the sound of the water rushing down the hillsides towards the bay below which is now turning brown with runoff water. Different from the sound of waves I usually listen to.
Now, I can listen to the generator since WAPA just went off, again.
(went off very early but only for about 20-30 min. just as the rains came in this AM.)
The one thing you can rely on in the VI is that you cannot rely on WAPA!
I have a friend that lives at Pineapple and I often tease her because she needs a kayak just to get from her condo to her car in the parking lot, that's if she hasn't moved it uphill before the lot floods to above your knees. Lucky they built all those units on mounds out there or they would flood in every hard rain.
Hope eveyone enjoys the rainy day.

Fer true. It's an old cliche, but I still love it when people refer to the acronym as We Ain't Promisin' Anything.
All the streetlights and signals were out in C'sted this morning, but we had power in F'sted and in the C'sted office.

"Well, there's a reliable disappointment."
- Paul Giamatti as Harvey Pekar in the 2003 film American Splendor
The Lord said,"Let there be light!!" and WAPA said, "Not so fast..."
