Flag disposal
Is there anywhere on island to dispose of my torn up American Flag. I can burn it, but would rather drop it off somewhere if possible.
Thanks,
I don’t know the answer to your question but thank you for having enough respect for our flag to dispose of it properly. I did notice they don’t last too long on the island due to the winds. We have a flagpole and I bought a new flag in December and it’s already starting to fray, and I bought the best quality flag I could find on line.

According to what I read about disposal of the American Flag - here's the most common answer.
American Flag Disposal. The United States Flag Code states: “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

Can you call the National Guard Armory?
I just have a bonfire, raise a toast of Cruzan Rum and put the flag into the fire.
But you have to stay off the beach and practice Social Distancing 🙂
I'll end up burning it as I have done before. In my small town where I came from they had a drop box for flag disposal, was hoping for something similar here. Thanks everyone.

Maybe ask here? American Legion STX and STT

Yes, American Legion is where I have taken mine over the years. I think they save them and burn them on Flag Day, June 14th. Hopefully this year they will be able to in June.
Welcome back, Ronnie! ?
