Fish Market in French Town
Good Night Everybody,
Does anyone know what time the fishermen come into French Town on Saturday mornings? Or better yet, what is a good time to go to buy fish? Thanks for your help.
Kelly
They start really early. Like 5AM!

Ronnie,
Thank You, that's what I was thinking. I guess I better get to bed!
What kind of fish do they sell? Sounds like somewhere I wanna be next Saturday. If you know off the top of your head, what kind of prices are they usually asking?
Trainwreck,
We made it there about 5:30AM. The gentleman we bought our fish from said they start around 3:00 AM! We bought a red snapper for $5/ lb. and $1/ lb for cleaning. We also bought some smaller what's called shellfish for $2/ lb and also $1/lb for cleaning. We stuffed the snapper with ginger, lemon grass, cilantro, soy sauce and mongolian fire oil then baked it. We grilled the shellfish. Both were great!!!
Can someone tell me where in frenchtown it is? We've been here a week and are still trying to find everything. Thanks!
I'm never there at that time of night/morning but I assume it's by Alexander's or Hook, Line & Sinker behind the McDonald's in Frenchtown. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
Epalmer, Trade is right. To find it just drive west on the waterfront until you pass the Holiday Inn. At the second light there is a Post Office, turn left . There is a French flag hanging on the corner by the sign that says Frenchtown. Just drive straight in and you will see the fishermen's stalls right after the McDonald's, yes, McDonald's!

There's a tire repair/tire purchase place right next door. If you go by dinghy, it's west of the seaplane, west of the tire place. Tie up to the seawall. Have another person (usually ME) wait in dinghy to help with lifting tire from dinghy up over seawall. If oops happens and tire falls into water, it's helper person's fault (usually ME). Make sure you take a gaff with you on this trip to fish the tire out of the water. Then this person (usually ME) is kept busy trying to hold the soft side/hard bottom dinghy off the seawall (seas are fairly rough in this spot with all the seaplane/ferry traffic) while tire is being repaired/or new tire purchased. When tire business is done, helper person gets leave other person in dinghy and shop for fresh fish dinner. Adventure is always guarenteed.
hey islander@heart:
can I come over for dinner? Your snapper sounds like it was absolutely delicious!!!
Trade & Ronnie-
Thanks a ton! I really appreciate it!
