Smelling smoke west of there at our place.

i found out that my co worker is okay, her husband is okay and the tenant is okay. i think all animals are accounted for and okay. that is the important thing.

i smell smoke where i am, christiansted

It appeared to be off of East Scenic in the area of 66 -- above/west of the entrance to concordia. I could not tell if there was property damage but neighbors and fire service were responding when I was passing.

It was a house fire. Fire investigators there. Neighbor heard explosion first. All safe, but I am sure very shook up

My concern was the safety of people and animals. Thank god they are physically okay

Yes, they are safe. My husband was there shortly after. Lots of neighbor support. I saw them before six while they were awaiting the clearance to go in. Not sure of damage. I walked back, but they were with fire dept. scary stuff!! Dogs all present and accounted for I was told

thank you toninski, i work with her and she just took out of here. we were waiting word that all people and animals were okay when i posted this. so very scary for her and hubby and tenant. so very thankful. i will try calling her later today to see if they need anything.
the tenant is usually asleep in the house at the time so she is extremely lucky and that she had her dog also.

Home owner has 2nd degree burns on his face and hands. He kept the fire from going up to the main house.

My heart goes out to all them...

did he go to the hospital? those could get infected.

He went to the doctor today. He is taking it easy the rest of the week. I work with him and his wife called to say he wouldn't be in this week

I saw them this morning, and gave medical advice, as well as address and phone of dr Cambells office. Adviced to seek attention immediately due to risk of infection. Sounds like they did as I suggested

Lost all... Oh, good grief... At least, the life was spared... The owner is not out of danger though with 2nd degree burns... To all, a prompt recovery physically and emotionally...
