I do not know where the library is yet.

Can I get there without having a car or having to take a taxi...........meaning....can I get there via a combination of safari and hoofing it?

Paul: The Enid Baa Library is downtown. You can get there on safaris. It is on Main Street, toward Market Square. If you haven't been downtown, it is a must see!

Hello Paul,

The public library is in town, Enid Baa Library, on main street. You can take the safari from East End to town and then walk to it yes. Each school has a library for your volunteering with kids and reading... and the university has a library if you are intersted in books for your reading; you can get a library card at the University library but it requires a fee - I think $30 as a non-student community borrower. You can get to the University by bus too - and then you walk up the hill or steps depending on which bus stop you get off at - up to the library.

Thanks folks....yes I've been in town and love it, but I've never seen a map that has the library, and quite honestly have never really asked.

Now of course the need is several fold....books for me to read, rather than buy, and also to follow up on volunteering.

Just before I left Burbank California, back in December , they had opened a brand new branch library that was to die for. Frank Lloyd Wright, Praire (spelling) style interior and California Spanish Architecture on the exterior. I have loved libraries since my youth, and look forward to discovering Enid Baa Library here.

Islander mentioned applying for a University Library card if I was to get books for my reading....doesn't the Enid Baa library have a library card available?

Hello Paul,

I was just mentioning your different options as far as libraries go.

Yes the Enid Baa Library is a Public Library and offers library cards. Its selection of books however are not as diverse or numerous as that of the University Library which has a much larger selection. You can visit both of them.

You need the library card at the university to check out books and to get into special collections like the Caribbean Room... however you can go and look around, search their catalog - which you can actually do on-line and get an idea of what they offer... read in the library without the card, its only to check out books that you will need to pay the deposit and get a card. If you want to visit the University Library visit http://library.uvi.edu/ for more info.

Enjoy.

Closest one to you Paul is in St. John. There is a small library in Cruz Bay! You can see St. John as well as visit a library!

Can it get any better than that???? Taking the ferry to St.John to get t the library!

I can't wait to tell the librarians I know in both Burbank, CA and in St Paul, MN that I'm gonna take the ferry to get to the library.

Last winter I walked 10 blocks to get to the St. Paul library in the dead of winter when the temperature was like 15 above zero.................man talking about needing to get to the library!

Hands down, taking the ferry beats that all to you know what!!!

Since I'm keeping my fingers crossed about a possible job with Cruz Bay Water Sports and even more likely, one here in Red Hook with Chris Sawyer's outfit........St. John may be the closest library for me.

But heh, I love to come to "town" and will probably do it before the week is out...to check out the Enid Baa library, which according to today's paper just got some new online service to help kids with their research. Very cool.

Thanks Ronnie
