FINDING JOBS
My wife and I are thinnking about moving to St. Croix and need iformation about finding jobs, can anyone help?
What sort of information about jobs?
Job postings can be found....@ careervi.com.....daily news usvi.com...local papers by mail ..One is called the Avis ,and The source ...Look through this board and do some further research...there are other sources but those will get you started 8-).
All kinda jobs can be found here. What kinds jobs are you looking for?
There are all kinds of jobs in the islands -- we have everything that a small town of 50-60,000 people would have - Heart surgeons, baggers at grocery stores, plumbers, lawyers, welders, bankers, car mechanics, insurance sales, really anything but a big manufacturing component - also STX has HOVENSA which is a refinery and has many employees in that field. Maybe there are more service jobs here per capita than some places but it is similar in make up to any multi faceted resort community.
Remember that the statement above, 50,000 is the limit. So my suggestion is to do a PMV and line up a job FIRST!
Also, look in the island trader.

You might be able to line up a job during a PMV, but most likely you'll just make connections. You will have to take a leap of faith, move down, and then look for work (unless you have some specific, much needed skill). Most employers will want to see you standing in front of them, ready to work, before offering you an actual job.
I found my first job on Craiglist.org It's a long shot, not a lot of people advertise there....but it's worth looking at.
I moved here without a PMV but having a job waiting for me was all I needed.
