It'll be interesting to see if this raises our profile at the federal level. Oddly, the drop in murder rates doesn't feel encouraging.

what percentage of crimes are solved? (arrests, convictions) ??? I'm just not buying that "crime is down" Re-label a murder as a "suicide" or "accident" or "natural causes" and it positively effects the stats. Maybe the VIPD got some PR smarts and added "spin" to their bag of tricks. Did I miss the domestic violence and rape stats, or don't those types of crime count? Still too many unsolved murders and other acts of violence in the territory.

“These figures show that the VIPD is making great strides in reducing violent crimes and crimes against property in the Virgin Islands,” Hyndman said.

with 41 murders in the territory last year maybe it is a little early to be patting themselves on the back.
