Finally Back and in Need of Panel Hurricane Shutter Installation Help
Hello to my Old Friends and Greetings to the new folks on the board...
I'm able, at long last, to start rejoining the outside world after my too long trip to the US for surgery in April, the unexpected (and dangerous) problem that developed post-surgery and longer than expected recovery period caused by a series of nifty little infections from hospital-borne, highly resistant bacteria that was my main souvenir from the whole affair. But as John Astin's "Night Court" character was fond of saying, "But I'm feeling much better now!"
Thanks to ail those who have been so patient in waiting for replies from me -- they will be coming very soon. I've also cleaned out my private message box and am now able to receive PMs again.
On to my plea for assistance. The Hip Hubby (HH) and I finally received our panel hurricane shutters. We got an excellent price (and are now saving a mint on our home-owner's insurance premiums). Only problem is our shutter vendor doesn't offer installation service. It would be possible for the HH to do this on his own, but it would take ages longer than if he had help -- some of the sections of the shutter tracks are quite long and would be a nightmare to measure and keep level while drilling into concrete with only two hands.
Can any STXers recommend a reliable, fair handyman or contractor who we could hire? Our dream, obviously, is to get them up before the season peak starts in mid-August.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide! It's nice to be back among friends. 🙂

It;s good to hear from you again. I missed your comments and "cantagious" enthsiasm. We were all worried, and glad you are back on the board.
STXER
Glad you are back and feeling better.
Try Jet Development. I had them complete an extensive remodel of my place. Can't say enough good about them.
There labor charge is either $20 or $25 per man hour depending on the skill level of the employee doing the work.
If you need a phone number PM and I will look it up for you.
Jim
Try Nick at 340-713-0650. He did some tile work for us.
Hey girl -- welcome back. We thought you'd fallen of the edge of the island!! So things are better? Are you getting out? Hope we can get together sooner rather than later.
Linda J.
Welcome back!
I would ask your supplier who they would recommend. I used to sell those things and had a list of guys I would highly recommend and could depend on. Unfortunate for you, this is STT!

Penny, my gosh...it's so good to see your name on the board again! Shame on you and HH for not letting us know what was going on - I figured you must have had a few problems...glad to hear you are up and at it again! Looking forward to seeing ya'll...you have been missed...
If you need a general handyman on STX who also does great landscaping, painting, etc. at very fair prices, you can also try calling Dennis Houston at 340-514-5942. I've had him paint interiors of condos, install dishwashers, clean up landscaping nightmares, etc. Tell him Alexandra sent you! His wife works for my husband's business, so he tries to accommodate my referrals as best he can.
Thank you all for the very helpful referrals and the nice welcome back. Individual replies and than yous will follow tomorrow due to the late hour (including those who sent me PMs. You all are such wonderful people who I missed being away from very much. Thank you again for keeping me in your thoughts.
