Thanks to all who were so helpful answering all my ??? over the past few months. We arrived a few days ago and so far all is well!
Just need to get the place organized, find a car, and eventually find a job....

Welcome to the island Susan!
I arrived mid June and I am enjoying it thus far. Although, the job search is getting a bit frustrating. My background is in information technology, so it may be less challenging for other professions.

It usually is frustrating, you really need to give yourself about 2 to 4 months worth of cushion to find a job, and remember to go out and try to met people and network. Best jobs are usually not advertised. But someone will know someone who needs someone who can do this or that. Also faxing in resumes is really not enough here you have to go out in person to the business and try to talk to someone. All things you guys prolly know but someone else may not. 🙂 Best of Luck.

Bit of a disingenuous statement there, Linda. Yes, "stuff" happens everywhere...BUT...the magnitude of the "stuff" often varies widely from place to place.
