extreme police resonse at princess hardware,wed.6/6 @ 9:30 am.????
we have been extremely surprised we have not read or heard anything about this incident. this past wed. as my husband was passing by princess hardware at around 9:30 am..he witnessed at least 6 police cars converging rapidly from the west and at least 6 or more from the east. he saw armed police officers entering the building.the next morning the hardware store was closed and surrounded by yellow police tape. that was 2 days ago and again nothing in the papers, on the radio etc. VERY curious. anyone have any idea about what happpened???
What? You expect the police to be telling you whats going on?
Come on...we have no news reporting expertise at any level here in the Virgin Islands and you expect the cops to tell you what they're up to?
The newspapers here are for selling advertising not keeping citizens informed.
Give your head a shake.
i totally agree with you.that's why i always go to this forum for the latest, most accurate information.

Now, that's funny! 😀
How about an update on the two tourists shot at Havensight two weeks ago? What about the two cops shot the same night? Are they home? Back at work? Does anyone know the current condition of the Para sailing accident victim? Did the accident "investingation" yield any "results"? Is she still in on life-support?

#1 answered in your post on another thread. A quick google can more often than not come up with the current status of many such ongoing cases if you don't have a chance to read the daily newspapers.

As far as the parasailing accident is concerned I believe the Coast Guard is the investigating agency.

The link provided is from the VI PD's public relations department---politically biased and not "news".
The cost guard only regulates the vessel and Capetian. I don't think that there are rules in place to regulate the acuity of para sailing.

Oh of course. Silly me. Looks to me as though it's simply stating facts but of course you know better in all your finite wisdom. My apologies. Suggest you do your own research and find other sources which would be more compatible with your mindset. That should solve the problem.:D
Unsolved--investigated crime in the territory, does not get mentioned on VIPD's Public relations press page.

What's amazing though is that if you read the newspapers every day you'll find updates on many hitherto unsolved crimes and notices of arrests made, as well as court reporting and sentences handed down. You can usually find them starting around Page 4 ...
What about the hardware store incident mentioned above?
The hardware store incident was mentioned in an unrelated story titled "Police Investigating Death" on page 5 in Thursday's Avis.
Police respoded to a report of a man with a concealed weapon seen behind the store.
How would they know he had a "concealed" weapon?
How would they know he had a "concealed" weapon?
No doubt because someone either knew he was carrying an unlicensed firearm and reported it or someone saw what they thought could be a concealed weapon on his person.
"62.1-04-01. Definition of concealed. A firearm or dangerous weapon is concealed if it is carried in such a manner as to not be discernible by the ordinary observation of a passerby. There is no requirement that there be absolute invisibility of the firearm or dangerous weapon, merely that it not be ordinarily discernible. A firearm or dangerous weapon is considered concealed if it is not secured, and is worn under clothing or carried in a bundle that is held or carried by the individual, or transported in a vehicle under the individual's control or direction and available to the individual, including beneath the seat or in a glove compartment ..."
And they didn't know he had a concealed weapon. They were responding to a report of someone carrying a concealed weapon.
