Hi everyone,

Hubby JJ and I want to go adventuring tomorrow. We would like to do a little hiking, exploring local historical sites, looking at bugs and interesting plants and trees for JJ, to include a stop at a beach to cool off. We are packing a picnic and have 4 wheel drive pickup. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tammy

I've been out to the Carambola hiking trail a couple times. It's fun but it's no light walk. Not difficult, but definately an exercising hike. Along the way there are a couple of great views as you climb higher.
That might be a good starting point and then you could stop by the North Shore afterwards just down the road. Great place for a picnic. From there you can head anywhere you like. I'm not keen on nearest historical sights in the area, maybe someone else could help with that. Hope you have a good time.

We have been to the tide pools. Haven't been to Sandy point yet. Is it open? Where are good places to explore in the rain forest? I just finished the book, "The Americans Came" all about St. Croix when the Americans bought the VI from the Danish. They make reference to an aquaduct that supplied water. I have heard about a waterfall somewhere in the rain forest. My problem is that I am always afraid of tresspassing on someones land and making them angry. We had an experience once while exploring senic drive and while I don't think we were tresspassing, we made a young man very angry by driving on some back road. I guess we could always just go and jump off the pier. Haven't done that yet. lol

the "waterfall" is a tiny drop that water flows over...but anyways i doubt it's running....i know it was about 2 months ago when we went, and its right off the road. Ham's Bluff is a nice hike too
