Most major cities have a weekly or monthly entertainment guide. Is there a website where I can find out where to hear live music on certain nights, local markets celebrations etc? I'm not moving for another 5 weeks, but I want to start getting an idea of the local events and my new life!

Shawn: Entertainment around here is a bit more haphazard. In season, there will be live music lots of places. You can read about special stuff in the Island Trader or the Weekend Guide in the Daily News (this is for St Thomas and St John.) In the off season, things may be a little less organized. For example, we went to Pirate's Cove Saturday thinking there was a Pirate's Night Out as advertised in the paper, nah... Nice and quiet in August and September. End of September will be the Chili Cook-Off, a pretty big deal!

Hello Shawn,

You can find some of the local events listed on our sister web site VInow.com; cut and paste the following link:

http://vinow.com/general_usvi/local_events/

On that page there are some links to articles/photos on the right hand side that you can read to familiarize yourself with the type of local events we have. The publications East Ender mentioned are good sources once on island. Also the local radio stations usually will announce special events.

Which island are you moving to?

Thanks, I'm moving to St. Thomas but want to know what's going on in St. John too since they are so close.
