Electric account
I may be purchasing a condo on St. Thomas if all goes well in the next few weeks. I will need to open an account at the electric company. Some questions: where is the electric company located to do this? what are their operating days and hours? is this an all day process to open the account? any idea how much of a deposit is needed, and will they accept cash as I will only have Florida checks at that time? how long from opening the account does it take to have the electric turned on? Thanks for any help on these questions
I bought a condo in July. The WAPA office is located in Sub Base -- down the road from Pueblo. Don't remember what time they opened, I got there a little after 9:00 AM. Definitely not an all day process. It took no longer than 1 hour from start to finish. I arranged with the sellers of the unit to leave the power on. I transferred the account to my name, saving the connection fee. They required a small deposit ($25 - $50) and take cash. I understand that if the power has to be connected it can take a few days.
Good luck and congratulations!
You will need a copy of your deed to prove ownership also. They work M-F not including holidays like today!

Thanks for the info. We should close in December, and then we hope to do a long term rental until we move into it around October, 2005. I know I will be having a lot more questions for this board.
