El Faro
I don't know if any of you have been following the missing cargo ship El Faro who went missing in the Bahamas while Jaoquin was pounding that area but this story does not sound good
Praying that they find them.
Yes, I have been following this story.
My only question now is - why on earth would a ship Captain steer his ship into a known storm of this magnitude?
I would think other ships would head to shore until the storm would lessen.
They had a malfunction and lost steering.
Let's not forget that this storm was predicted to be a minimal tropical storm with 30 - 40 mph winds. It surprised everyone, including the weather channel gurus, with its rapid intensification into a very slow moving monster Cat 4 hurricane.
Hope they will be found safe but it doesn't look good.
horrible for their families.
It's heartbreaking. I cannot imagine the conditions that they were in, in the center of a cat 4, almost cat 5 storm.
Terrible news
So sad!
How absolutely terrifying it must have been for them.
That was one hell of a hurricane to be caught out in.
Condolences to their loved ones.
So hard to give up hope.
The Bermuda Triangle swallows another one!
USCG is still searching.
The Bermuda Triangle swallows another one!
Speaking of Bermuda I haven't heard any reports from the islands. Anyone know how they made out?

A simple google search brings up a whole list of recent updates on Bermuda and the other Bahama islands ...
Apparently, El Faro made regular trips delivering cargo to St. Thomas and was part of the Sea Star Line.

It actually never came directly into the USVI. Goods destined for the territory were offloaded in PR and transferred to another vessel for transshipment here.
They found an empty life boat and the first of the victims in a survival suit.
