Hello everyone!!

I am always looking for rum drink recipes that are unique to the islands. Any suggestions would be great. When I am in stx my personal favorite are pain killers, rum runners, cruzan confusions, the green flash, and bush whackers. I find that when I finally crack the code and figure out a recipe, my friends up here in the states go wild for these awesome island drinks. The VI has some of the best rum drinks in the world! Does anyone have a unique rum drink recipe? Thanks!!

is the key lime pie a drink on the rocks?

for green melon liqueur would you use Midori? I have had bad experiences with Midori... But will always give it another try!

Personally I never use Midori, but some people do.

Key Lime Pie is usually a sunset shot that I mix with ice before. This past Sunday was hot though so everyone had ice in their glass

Depends on your mood. Alex from the Yacht-Less Club told me she made this drink as in a martini glass rimmed with lime juice then ground graham cracker crumbs

While on the topic, does anyone have any good, drinkable, recipes that use Cruzan Black Strap rum?
I'd purchased a bottle hoping to use it for dark & stormy's but its not the right stuff.
What about alternative uses? Anyone tried using it to kill tan-tan? 😎

onthespot-this is a version of a cruzan confusion, but there is a stx version where it uses a 1/2 oz of each cruzan liqueur on hand and here is the recipe:
½ oz. of Banana Cruzan Rum
½ oz. of Mango Cruzan Rum
½ oz. of Coconut Cruzan Rum
½ oz. of Pineapple Cruzan Rum
½ oz. of Citrus Cruzan Rum
½ oz. of Guava Cruzan Rum
2 oz. of Pineapple Juice
Splash of Grenadine
Float 1 oz. of Cruzan 151 or Cruzan Black Strap on top of drink
Directions: Mix all liqueurs with pineapple juice and grenadine and stir, or pour back and forth until mixed. Pour mix over full glass of ice; float the 151 or Black Strap over the top.

jumbie-i agree midori is pretty bad! do you recommend a certain melon liqueur? I cant wait to try the mango melon madness!

marlene-key lime pie shots sound amazing on a hot day!

islandhops-i use blackstrap to float on top of rum runners, the recipe is on my blog @www.movingtotheislands.com, i will post it here for you: Rum Runner

Made with Cruzan Rum Products

Ingredients
3 cups of ice
1 ½ oz. pineapple juice
1 ½ oz. orange juice
1 oz. Cruzan Black Strap Rum:-)
1 oz. Cruzan Banana Rum
1 oz. Cruzan Light Rum
1 oz. Cruzan Dark Rum
Splash of grenadine
1 oz. Cruzan 151 Rum (this is optional)
Garnish with fruit of choice, orange, lime, pineapple, or cherry

To make a gallon of this amazing drink use 20x the amounts listed above.

Instructions: This drink can be served blended or on the rocks, I prefer on the rocks.

Blended – Add all ingredients, except 151 and garnish, to a blender and fill with ice. Blend until smooth, pour in glass and add straw/fruit garnish. Float a shot of Cruzan 151 on top and serve. The 151 is optional, watch out because this will pack a punch.

On the rocks - Fill glass with ice. Add all liquor and liqueurs, except 151. Add fruit juice and a splash of grenadine to taste. Float Cruzan 151 on top and add a straw/fruit garnish.

in my rum runner recipe i replace the 151 with blackstrap, so you are using 2 oz per drink, and it makes the drink a not so powerful! happy drinking everyone! thanks for all the responses!!!8-)

I made one up, yum!

Fix yourself a margarita, only instead of triple sec, use coconut rum. Smooth & a little nutty. On the rocks is my preference, with salt.

Anyone know what to mix with the new Cruzan Strawberry rum?
I like the rum cream with a splash of the black strap.

Tommy B, try this one on the ladies...
Vanilla rum, fresh bananas, and ice. Blend it up.

It tastes just like a banana popsicle!

I don't have a brand preference but definitely not Midori brand.

BTW you can also substitute any Margarita mix for the sweet/sour mix in this drink.

tommyb - I used to make rum runners way back in the south beach days, spinning bottles at the Beacon hotel. We used myers or 151 floated and poured right down the straw (so the customer could either stir it in or get a hard up front hit). Just too much effort and many items required for a home cocktail, not to mention the need for lots of ice and a really good blender (and increased WAPA bills).

margaritagirl - I'll try the rum cream with a splash of black strap, but I usually save the rum cream for my rare ice cream topping treat 🙂

I still think I'll give the black strap stuff a try on the tan-tan 😎

Oh and whatever you do don't get the captain morgan private reserve - mixed with coke it's so good you'll have a hard time going back to cruzan.

I like my Bushwhacker better than any I've had in a bar. I don't use any vodka, and I use Rum Cream instead of Bailey's. Lots more flavor!

Cruzan gold rum
Kahlua
Amaretto
Cruzan Rum Cream
Splash Frangelico
Splash Coco Lopez

The rum has a higher alcohol content than the other ingredients, so it will melt the ice more. That's why I stopped using vodka....didn't add any flavor and made it harder to get it thick. Kahlua has a stronger taste than amaretto, so I go a little heaver with that, and then the Rum Cream has way more flavor than Bailey's. Easy on the Frangelico and just about a teaspoon+ of coco lopez. Fresh grated nutmeg (or out of the jar. lol)

I always considered it cheating to add creme de cocoa or chocolate syrup. BTW, if you want to save on the wapa bill, just make it on the rocks and shake like crazy.

I bet a floater of Black Strap would be tasty!!

I love a blended bushwacker, so I'll splurge! It costs about 4 cents to run a 600-watt blender for 1 minute at current WAPA prices. 🙂

1.5oz Cream de Coco (Coco Lopez is preferred)

yoyo- do you float 151 on the top of your painkillers? I like this method because by the time you get to the end of the drink you are already feeling great!

Personnally I always put a Cruzan Black Strap floater on painkillers. 151 is way too potent for most people.
